Abstract

The 3DHeartView project produced an advanced prototype of a system capable of modelling 3-dimensional cardiac structures based on a single sequence of clinical angiographic X-rays. That can be used as an add-on to any modern digital angiographer. The system's accuracy has been measured and our approach validated with static and dynamic phantom object studies. The prototype has been in used many real-patient cases in a clinical routine environment. In this paper we present the main features of the system, the methodology of 3D angiographical modelling, and certain testing and operation results. We also describe the application of HPC technology in the modelling process.

This work was partly supported by the European Commission under the ESPRIT program (project 3DHeartView-24484).
