Summary.
It can be problematic to compute using a finite element method approximate solutions of problems under constraints if spaces of approximations are not compatible. If however such spaces are chosen, the discrete problem must be modified for a unique solution to exist. An (optimal) perturbation, based on an optimized Verfürth Lemma, is analyzed.
