Zusammenfassung

Application-Service-Provider stehen aufgrund von Verwaltung und Betrieb einer zunehmenden Zahl von heterogenen Systemlandschaften und Computersystemen vor großen Herausforderungen und Kosten. Architekturbedingte Einschränkungen traditioneller Rechnersysteme veranlassen IT-Verantwortliche, die Computing-Grundlagen in Rechenzentren neu zu ordnen, da Wachstum und neuer Kundenbedarf sich nicht mehr ausschließlich durch die Integration weiterer Hardwareressourcen bedienen lassen. Adaptive Computing als Betriebskonzept auf der Basis von Virtualisierung bietet neue Möglichkeiten, den Betrieb eines Rechenzentrums zu verbessern und ermöglicht es, die IT-Ressourcen in ihrer Gesamtheit und nicht in einzelnen Einheiten zu betrachten.
