Abstract
In this paper, we describe the second design cycle of Acropolis, a social computing platform that allows citizens to build and share their own narratives about complex or long-term news stories, by involving them in collaborative processing of news data called social curation. Experimental results produced through quantitative and qualitative evaluations have shown, by positive evidence, that our proposed approach was able to support citizen engagement in collaborative curation of news content. Using the action design research methodology, we concluded the second design cycle of the platform with a set of design recommendations for building similar platforms.
