Abstract

A coplanar waveguide-fed circular slot antenna with wide tunable and reconfigurable frequency rejection characteristic is proposed numerically and verified experimentally. The frequency rejection function is realized by using a capacitance loaded split-ring resonator (CL-SRR). The wide tunable frequency rejection characteristic is implemented by adjusting the dimensions of the CL-SRR and the reconfigurable frequency rejection characteristic is realized by integrating two switches into the CL-SRR. The antenna has a small size of \(32\,\hbox {mm}\times 24\,\hbox {mm}\) including the ground plane. Simulation and measurement results show that the proposed antenna with omnidirectional radiation patterns and reconfigurable notch bands is suitable for ultra-wideband and cognitive radio communication applications.
