Abstract

This paper presents a sensorless maximum power point tracking control of brushless double fed machine for variable speed wind energy conversion system based on extended Kalman filter for estimation of rotor speed, The estimated rotational speed is used to regulate the aerodynamic power generated to the point of maximum energy capture, the control strategy for flexible power flow control is developed by applying power winding flux oriented vector control algorithm, the extended Kalman filter is employed to identify the rotor speed which is regarded as a parameter, the analyzed and simulation results in MATLAB/Simulink platform confirmed the good dynamic performance of the proposed sensorless maximal wind energy capture and effectiveness of the estimation of rotational speed at different wind speed.
