Abstract

A recent circuit of Alia, Barsi and Martinelli (1984) is improved. During our redesign process, we assumed that transistors can be formed on more than one ‘active’ layer of silicon. A small, single-layer layout can easily be obtained from our multiple-layer layout. We believe that ours is not an isolated theoretical result. A multiple-to-single layer transformation should be incorporated into commercial VLSI design tools.
