Abstract

This paper describes a graphics system, which has been and is being developed at IBM Japan's Tokyo Scientific Center as a research prototype, and introduces a geographical data processing system as its application example. The graphics system, called Advanced Integrated Designer's Activity Support (A-IDAS) System, provides not only graphic hardwares and softwares, but also a database package with a relational form and a software managing a conversational environment. Since these softwares are general purpose aids, they are effective for establishing various kinds of application systems easily and rapidly. A geographical data processing system is introduced as an example of utilization of the aids.
