Abstract

The Washington DC, USA, Metropolitan Police dispatch system has been developed to replace a manual operation based on the use of complaint cards. The computerized system has brought benefits in faster response times, record keeping and manpower allocation. The case study outlines both systems and describes the advantages of computerization.
