Abstract

Digital x-ray images can be made by most rotary CT scanners by transporting the patient through the scan plane while holding the source position fixed and sampling the detectors electronically. When this is done, longitudinal streaks will appear in the image whenever an x-ray detector differs significantly from its neighbors in either gain or degree of linearity. A straightforward postprocessing method for removing such streaks from digital x-ray images made by the Technicare 2020 is described and its effectiveness demonstrated on clinical images.
