Golden speaker builder – An interactive tool for pronunciation training
2019, Speech CommunicationCitation Excerpt :If so, we removed their responses from the sample. We evaluated the voice identity of the syntheses using a Voice Similarity Score (VSS) test Felps et al., 2009; Kreiman and Papcun, 1991). Namely, participants listened to pairs of utterances and were required to ((1) decide whether the two utterances were from the same speaker, and (2) then rate their confidence in the decision on a 7-point scale, as in Pelham and Blanton (2012).
Talker discrimination across languages
2012, Speech CommunicationCitation Excerpt :An important factor in speaker identification or discrimination is talker familiarity. Whether or not a listener is familiar with a talker will influence how well they can recognise or identify them, as well as how well they can discriminate between them and other talkers (Kreiman and Papcun, 1991; Van Lancker and Kreiman, 1987). Of course unfamiliar voices can become familiar voices with training.
