Abstract

We propose a formal axiomatic treatment of databases with complex objects. This approach integrates object-oriented features with the binary semantic data model. Our axiomatic approach offers a new prospective on such issues as object identity, structural inheritance and type systems which are of interest to object-oriented database systems.
