Abstract

This paper presents a parallel dynamic programming algorithm for the extraction of a smooth curve from a digitized image. The algorithm can be implemented on a systolic architecture with a limited number of processors, independent of the image size. The machine can be upgraded easily to detect arbitrarily irregular curves.
