Tom Pfeifer received his PhD (Dr-Ing.) in Computer Science from the Technical University of Berlin in 2000. He holds a Masters degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in Electrical Engineering/Electronics from the Technical University of Dresden, Germany, since 1989. Tom Pfeifer received his PhD (Dr-Ing.) in Computer Science from the Technical University of Berlin in 2000. He holds a Masters degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in Electrical Engineering/Electronics from the Technical University of Dresden, Germany, since 1989. From 1992 to 1999 he was teaching as a Research Assistant at the Technical University of Berlin, Computer Science, Department for Open Communication Systems, and leading several international research projects. Since 1995, he is Project Manager and Senior Consultant for multiple industry and EU funded research projects in the area of location aware computing, personal communication support, and ubiquitous computing at the Fraunhofer Research institute for Open Communication Systems, FOKUS, Berlin (formerly GMD FOKUS). He is Editorial Board member of Computer Communications. Since 2001 he is teaching Ubiquitous Computing as a visiting professor at TU Berlin.
