On the structure of Skipjack

Abstract

In this paper the structure of the NSA-designed block cipher Skipjack is examined. By cryptanalysing a large number of variants of the algorithm, we give plausible arguments for several principles behind the Skipjack design. The conclusion is that the algorithm seems to be carefully designed.
