Abstract

Porter's value chain has for several years been quite popular. I will deal with information security and Porter's value chain. Two other very interesting theories that I will put in relation to ISEC, are those of Markowitz's portfolio theory and the theory on stock market efficiency. Information security is a pioneering field and an area that is continously undergoing change. It can be of help to have a theoretical basis from where to approach the area, and, to a certain degree, an interdisciplinary approach is necessary to be able to handle the very large and difficult area of information security.

We choose constituent stocks to avoid liquidity and transparency concerns. To familiarize with relevant literature and link the current study with academic aspects, we document that no consistent conclusion is found in market efficiency and inefficiency [1–4,6,37,38]. Technical trading rules widely explored in the real world challenge the market efficiency hypothesis [18,19].
