In contrast to SSM, which has a balanced orientation to technical and social aspects, the Trade Unionist approach has a more strong orientation to the technical aspect and a weak orientation to social aspects (Iivari and Hirschheim 1996). In the epistemology view, the Trade Unionist approach is primarily positivistic, while SSM has dualistic epistemology and accommodates interpretive views (Iivari et al., 1998).

The technical/IS view, which is also referred to as the socio-technical view, presumes that issues related to the user adoption of IS/websites are to be investigated by primarily considering how the design and use of IS/websites can fit with organizational objectives by being an integral part of organizational communication, cooperation, and operational arrangement mechanisms (i.e., the social/organizational role of IS) [50]. In addition, Petter et al. [94] indicate that considerations related to consumer benefits (i.e., the transactional view) and consumer use of e-commerce systems (i.e., the technical view) are essential in assessing the success of IS in various contexts.

Hence, design studio helps in the free exchange of ideas (Tate, 1987)through an information process that may be assumed as a social and organizational method for both tutors and students (Iivari and Hirschheim, 1996). Regarding the significance of designers’ experiences compared with regulations and facts (Demirkan, 1998), a design studio in architectural education is the first environment where the initial experiences for future professions can be obtained (Demirbaş and Demirkan, 2003).
