Abstract

The paper presents some experience and recommendations for effective simulation application gained from many projects of manufacturing, assembly and logistic systems. The improvement possibilities in a flexible manufacturing system are demonstrated. Seven improvement measures are evaluated using simulation and a Taguchi plan of experiments. Finally, the influence of various control strategies (MRP, Load Oriented Control, Drum Buffer Rope, Kanban) on the manufacturing system parameters is presented.
