This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief as the authors have plagiarized parts of their own papers previously submitted to, and subsequently published in, Int. J. Syst. Sci., 41 (2010) 1257–1272, doi:10.1080/00207720903244105, and Int. J. Prod. Econ., 162 (2010) 168–180, doi:10.1016/j.ijpe.2010.03.004 (now retracted). One of the conditions of submission of a paper for publication is that authors declare explicitly that their work has not been published previously, and that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Re-use of any data should be appropriately cited. As such this article represents a severe abuse of the scientific publishing system. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and apologies are offered to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission process.
