Introduction

The Brazilian Symposium on Games and Digital Entertainment (SBGames) is the largest and most important symposium in South America in the area of Digital Games and Entertainment. SBGames comprises six tracks (Computing, Arts & Design, Culture, Industry, Education and Health), besides the Games Festival, Art Show and Tutorials. The first meeting took place in 2002 with the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) sponsorship. In this issue, we invited the best Computing track papers from SBGames 2019 and 2020, respectively, held in Rio de Janeiro and Recife (the latter, in a virtual mode, due to Covid19). These papers were revised and substantially expanded from the conference versions and underwent a second round of reviews by members of the program committee and additional outside expert reviewers. Each paper was reviewed by at least three experts in their research fields. Quality, originality and importance of the scientific content of each paper were primary considerations. The authors made a great effort to comply with all concerns raised by the reviewers, which has considerably increased the quality, reproducibility and readability of the papers.

A case study applying current technology to the drawing pipeline of an upcoming game title showed useful and positive
