Message from the program chairs

This special issue of Performance Evaluation contains part of the proceedings of IFIP Performance 2011, which took place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on October 18–20, 2011. Performance is the flagship conference of IFIP’s Working Group (WG) 7.3 and as such provides a leading international forum for high-quality research on the modeling, analysis, simulation, and evaluation of computer systems and communication networks.

This year, two types of papers were submitted — Regular Papers and Short
