Abstract

One of the Wireless Sensor Actor Network applications is to monitor the temperature in a specific area and react in response to the sensed data in case a fire is detected. The time delay between the instance of the fire detection and reaction taken by the network to dampen the fire plays a crucial role to control the size of the fire. In this paper, we simulate the behaviour of the fire in a specific area by using the Ptolemy simulation environment. Additionally, the model simulates the total delay time taken by a wireless sensor actor network to react to the sensing of a fire and commence the process to dampen the fire. The wireless sensor actor network consists of 1 base station, 4 fire extinguishing actuators, and 4 sensors associated with each fire extinguishing actuator.
