Abstract
Three million by 2000. Internet commerce in Europe will have at least doubled by the turn of the century according to a new report issued by Datamonitor. At the present time the dominant player on the European Internet market is Germany, with 49% of all access revenues in 1997. This is largely due to T‐Online having been established in the small business sector for a number of years, utilized for online services such as banking. This picture will have changed significantly by 2000, with 60% of this kind of business occurring outside Germany, in the rest of the European Union.
