Abstract:

Over the years various wireless systems have been developed to become the official IMT-2020 technology. In this paper, we shared our assessment, insights, and observations on the enhanced ultra high throughput (EUHT) technology which is one of the candidate technologies submitted for IMT-2020 recommendations. Our assessment considered performance evaluations which are based on analytical and inspection methods. It is found that EUHT technology misses the requirements marginally. Technical performance requirements like bandwidth and scalability, mobility interruption time, peak data rate, peak spectral efficiency and area traffic capacity of EUHT are assessed. It is deduced that specification support for capabilities like active antenna systems, millimeter wave support, carrier aggregation is essential to meet the requirements for IMT-2020. This paper recommends suggestions to improve the specifications related to spatial layers, carrier aggregation and bandwidth supported which will enable fulfilment of the assessed technical performance requirements of IMT-2020 by EUHT.
