The spread of COVID-19 has hastened the use of smart learning technology due to advancements in technology and the digital transformation of the education system. Diplomas hold high importance in society as they serve as official proof of the education system. However, the process of applying for diploma issuance can be time-consuming as universities need to validate the details of the student and employers typically verify diplomas manually with the issuing institution. Therefore, we need a comprehensive approach that involves diploma issues and verification and revolutionizes the way people interact with each other. In this paper, we propose the DVD (Decentralized Verification of Diplomas) system based on blockchain and SSI (Self-Sovereign Identity) technologies for managing and verifying diplomas. The performance evaluation results illustrate that our model is efficient in submission and execution time, latency, and throughput.
