Abstract:

In this study, field measurements of soil resistivity using the 4-point Wenner test method were conducted in several parts of Gauteng, a province in South Africa. The data obtained were used to determine soil resistance values, and therefore to estimate zero-sequence current for a DigSilent™ simulated ground fault. A significant decay of zero-sequence current was observed with the increase in soil resistance.
