Abstract:

Wi-Fi is a technology which can connect PC, handhold devices and other terminal wireless with low cost and very high data bandwidth, and it is used worldwide. At the same time, Wi-Fi can be used for wireless localization based on the distribution feature of its signal strength. Therefore, it is necessary to collect Wi-Fi signals and store it with some ways. Lots of researchers have proposed different solutions for indoor positioning with Wi-Fi signals, but the design of collection and storage of Wi-Fi signals is little concentrated. Ordinary, in the location area, there are many wireless access points are deployed, and each location point has a combined Wi-Fi signals which can be composed feature vector. This feature vector is something like fingerprint of the spatial room, and it can be used to location identification. Therefore, a spatial fingerprint database need to be created for identification with real time feature vector. In this paper, the collection of Wi-Fi signals and management of Wi-Fi signal strength information by using of lightweight SQLite database with Android SDK are designed and implemented. Thus, indoor positioning can be executed with the Wi-Fi signals stored in a database.
