Abstract:
In many-to-one wireless sensor networks (WSNs), data is transmitted by the sensor nodes (SNs) to the base station. It leads to quicker energy loss of the sensor nodes which results in the formation of energy holes and hotspot regions. Consequently, data transmission from the other nodes is hampered despite the majority of SNs possessing the required energy. Thus, this poses a significant challenging issue because of the many-to-one traffic design in corona-based networks. The chief objective of this paper is to provide a comprehensive review of the recent literature in mitigating energy hole problems and accomplishing energy efficiency throughout the network.
