Abstract:
This study verified the performance of an integrated traction inverter with a silicon carbide (SiC) power module by using the electric vehicle test platform. The developed integrated traction inverter improved space utilization and power density in electric vehicles. The performance of the inverter was verified through vehicle performance and energy consumption tests. The test results from the chassis dynamometer revealed a maximum speed of \gt 110 \mathrm{~km} / \mathrm{h}, which met the predicted vehicle performance specifications. Compared with electric vehicles using traditional individual-type silicon insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT)based inverters, the integrated-type SiC-based inverter exhibited an improvement of 11 \% in energy consumption at 80 \mathrm{km} / \mathrm{h} and an improvement of 12 \% in energy consumption in the New European Driving Cycle mode.
