Abstract:
Low-power and high energy efficiency receiver is one of the most important blocks of wearable medical devices. It has received much attention in both academia and industry in recent years. The high energy efficiency and low power make it difficult to realize the RF receiver in wearable medical applications (WMA). This paper presents a Low-power RF receiver front-end with wireless energy harvesting technique (LPREH) for WMA. The RX wake-up timing control method is proposed to optimize the RX energy efficiency. Moreover, the energy harvesting technique is adopted to self-power the RX. The proposed LPREH supports 900M/2.45G band which is compatible with existing UHF/ISM protocols, and can demodulate OOK signals with 33 % PCE at 500mV antenna input signal. The RX consumes 36μW@80kbps and presents 0.45nJ/bit RX energy efficiency.
