Abstract:

We present a fully integrated, reconfigurable switched-capacitor power supply solution for energy harvesting sensor tags. This converter generates an adjustable regulated output rail (1.2 V typical) from a DC input voltage of 0.6 V-2.4 V or an AC input voltage with amplitude of 0.8 V-2.6 V The converter is implemented in a 0.25-μm CMOS process and features on chip flying capacitors as well as an integrated storage capacitor (5 nF). The peak efficiency of the converter is 76% and it provides a maximum load current of 100 μA. To support large transient loads, the chip also features efficient multi-step charging of an external storage capacitor (up to 10 μF).
