Abstract:
In Communications systems Cognitive Radio applications CR are being applied, because CR will increase the utilization of spectrum. For example, spectrum of TV White Space TVWS that is allocated but are underutilized today and also that spectrum which will become free after digital switchover DSO. In this paper, for first time, investigate the spectrum utilization pattern in range from 470 MHz to 790 MHz (UHF) in 18 cities in Malaysia. Over the course of seven days, the signal intensity energy was monitored in a number of frequency ranges. This study investigates variations in TVWS depending on the significance of CR’s broadcast power and position. The analysis support reasonable opportunistic between cognitive radio devices and underutilize spectrum, and present the initial quantifiable study of accessibility of TVWS spectrum in Malaysia.
