Abstract:

In this paper a new technique for a multi-channel video combiner based on finite state methods is presented. The proposed technique combines the input video channels in the compressed domain using generalised finite transducers. The proposed technique operates entirely in the compressed domain thus eliminating the processing overhead, delay and picture quality degradation associated with traditional video combiner methods adapting the decompress/combine/recompress approach.
