Abstract:

Cone-beam CT has a lot of advantages such as short time reconstruction, high spatial resolution, broad irradiation and computational efficiency and so on. However, because of large area of irradiation, cone-beam CT data may process very high scatter-to-primary ratios (SPR>2), which will result in severe cupping artifacts, streaks and CT number inaccuracies in reconstructed images. It remains difficult to remove the scatter noise from the projection data compared with that of fan-beam CT. Therefore, it is an inevitable problem that how to effectively eliminate the scatter noise in the projection data and improve the resolution of reconstructed images. As so many new correction methods have been proposed in recent years, this paper gives an overview of scatter correction and then illustrates our experiment methods for reference.
