Abstract:
Automatic electroencephalogram (EEG) interpretation based on referential derivation is easily interfered by ear lobe activation. In order to improve the quantitative EEG interpretation of dominant rhythm, bipolar derivation was proposed in this study. Coherence and phase obtained from cross spectrum analysis were used to determine the focus of dominant rhythm. Existence, peak frequency, amplitude and asymmetry of dominant rhythm were interpreted within the frequency band from 4 to 13Hz. The automatic interpretation of dominant rhythm based on bipolar derivation was compared with the visual inspection of electroencephalographer (EEGer) and showed good consistence.
