Abstract:
The purposes of this paper are to present a new user-friendly software package intended for evaluating the performance of dental digital radiography systems, and to study the effect of the radiation dose on the resolution and noise properties of photo-stimulable-phosphor-layer (PSPL) detectors. The modulation transfer function (MTF) was measured using the edge method and the noise power spectrum (NPS) by taking the two-dimensional Fourier transform of the images of a uniformly exposed test device. The MTF was found to be not affected by the radiation dose, whereas the NPS was strongly dependent on it.
