Abstract:
An innovative fault estimation method is proposed for particle size distribution (PSD) processes. The particulate distribution is adopted for fault estimation rather than the system output signal itself. Square root rational B-spline approximation is used to fit the distribution shape. Both Lipschitz nonlinearity and unknown inputs representing modeling uncertainty are considered in the system equation. The proposed fault estimation algorithm guarantees that unknown input decoupling is achieved while the states and the faults are estimated simultaneously. Satisfactory performance has been obtained in a simulation example.
