Abstract:
Renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic (PV) shall be a key component of residential nanogrids. In order to control the power flow and manage energy in DC nanogrids, the option of DC bus signaling has been proposed. PV sources are required to present a V-I characteristic with 3 regions of operation: Droop, maximum power and current limited. This paper describes an approach for implementing such requirements in a 2-stage PV interface. Simulation results of a residential DC nanogrid consisting of a PV source, an AC grid interface and a variable load are presented.
