Abstract:
Content precaching schemes have been conducted to enhance the performance of content downloading in content-centric vehicular networks. However, as the existing schemes do not consider the tolerable delay time of the content, they cause low delivery success rates and high backhaul traffic. Thus, this paper proposes a delay-tolerable precaching (DTP) scheme that minimizes backhaul traffic while guaranteeing tolerable delay times to increase delivery success rates. First, DTP defines the concept of the precaching available zone and presents a numerical model to determine the necessity of content precaching. Next, DTP devises the downloadable time for each RSU and provides an ILP problem to determine the optimal precaching RSUs based on the downloadable time. The simulation results verified the effectiveness of DTP compared with existing schemes.
