Abstract:

This paper describes the influences of a voltage source inverter (VSI) on the acoustic behavior of a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM), while it is used as an acoustic actuator. Two methods for compensating the nonlinear influences of the VSI are derived from the measurement results and are tested in a real-time environment. First, a static look-up table (LUT) is used to correct the duty cycle of the generated pulse-width-modulated (PWM) signal. At increasing excitation frequencies, the compensation quality decreases using the static LUT. Therefore, a second method, based on the well-known filtered-x least-mean-square (FxLMS) is used to generate harmonic compensation signals.
