Abstract:

In this paper we design exponentially convergent observers for a Ginzburg-Landau model of vortex shedding in viscous flow past a bluff body. Measurements are restricted to be taken at one point mid-stream or collocated with the actuation which is applied on the cylinder surface. The observers are used in conjuction with state feedback boundary controllers designed in previous work to yield solutions to the output feedback boundary control problem for attenuating vortex shedding. Simulations are provided to demonstrate the performance of the output feedback scheme.
