Abstract:

Well scripted linear video games can contain dramatic, exhilarating events and produce well balanced challenging gameplay and intense player immersion. However the quality of immersion and enjoyment a game's events and levels achieve, lessens through numerous playthroughs because the level is fundamentally static by nature. This paper discusses solutions to improving the replay-ability without diminishing the key qualities traditional event driven linear games are known for, and proposes a system, and a test whereby less predictable, more replay able games are the result.
