Abstract:

A dual-input-triple-output (DITO) thermoelectric energy harvesting system based on a reconfigurable thermoelectric generator (TEG) array is presented. Higher than 85% efficiency can be achieved over an input voltage range of 0.15V-to-10.8V and an output power range of 38μW-to-200mW with 99% peak efficiency. With adaptive frequency control, the tradeoff between the control overhead and the speed of the control loop is solved and 14 nA quiescent current is achieved. The proposed system provides two regulated output voltages, an energy recycling mechanism and a fast wakeup response, making it particularly suitable for wearable healthcare applications.
