Abstract:

In this paper we study the stability of a platoon of vehicles considering human driver's memory effects as distributed delays. The control strategy uses the delayed wireless network as well as the local driver reaction in order to attain the velocity of a leader vehicle and a given spacing policy among vehicles. The aim is to assist the driver by using the wireless information of the neighboring vehicles, so that the inter-vehicular distance is regulated. We use the delay Lyapunov matrix to test stability of the fleet in the time-domain. An illustrative example is presented.
