Abstract:

There are many options for open access publishing of location-related information, thanks to the development of technology in the webGIS field. At the same time, geovizualization makes the interpretation of spatial data much easier. The aim of this study is to present the geovizualization of a Central-European forest reserve on the web, using open source databases (ASTER GDEM v2, CORINE CLC50) and the archive genetic soil map. We used the open source QGIS software for the geoinformatics processing and publishing on the web. The results showed us that we can represent not only the data in the geoinformatics system on web, but also complex information from the map elements, (for example: soil type, area, perimeter, categories of land cover, altitude), which help users not only to orientate, but also to understand the spatial information better.
