Abstract:

This paper presents a comprehensive evaluation study that focuses on assessing the reliability and capacity of vehicular visible light communication systems V VLCs. The study takes into account various real-world elements, including adverse weather cases, ambient noise, and lateral shifts between connected vehicles. To achieve this, a realistic channel model based on the ray tracing method is employed. To achieve this, a ray tracing method was used for realistic channel modeling. We start by analyzing the bit error rate (BER) and then study the capacity of the system concerning the distance between vehicles. The results obtained from the study highlight significant performance degradation under specific conditions, including thick foggy weather, intense daylight, and large lateral shifts between vehicles. For instance, in the case of thick foggy weather, a BER of 10-5 and a capacity of 9 Mbit/s can be achieved.
