Abstract:

The reconfigurability of a radio receiver to support multiple standards has become a big trend in the mobile and wireless industry. In the case of Global Navigation Satellite Systems, the combination of GPS/GALILEO/GLONASS/ COMPASS signals offers customers more and more accuracy and real-time navigation service. This paper presents a new reconfigurable multistandard GNSS receiver architecture that allows the combination of two or more GNSS standards. This architecture is based on bandpass sampling which allows to down convert and digitizes signals directly from the Radio Frequency stage when choosing properly the sampling frequency. A bank of parallel bandpass filters controlled by on/off switches is proposed before sampling to select desired GNSS signals. Then, depending on selected signals, the sampling frequency has to be tuned to downconvert RF signals without overlapping. Simulation results of the universal GNSS subsampling receiver confirm the validation of the proposed architecture.
