Abstract:
In this paper, we propose a new approach for dynamic frame aggregation at Medium Access Control layer (MAC) in wireless local area network. We considered an IEEE 802.11n infrastructure mode network, and a VoIP communications' context. Among diverse suggested schemes of frame aggregation, we opted for the MAC Protocol Data Unit (MPDU) to be the basic unit for the aggregated frame. We started first,a study of static aggregation schemes' impact on network response when come to Voice over IP traffic. Accordingly, we established a model for dynamic frame aggregation that adjusts frame size to network load. Relative results show optimal performance in terms of delay throughput and bandwidth management.
