Abstract:

In this paper a low complexity, multiple transmitter generalised space shift keying (GSSK) signalling technique for optical wireless communication system is introduced. In an Nt transmitter system, this signalling technique is capable of achieving a spectral efficiency of Nt bits/s/Hz. In visible light communication (VLC) applications, dimming control can be accomplished by varying the duty cycle of the tranmsitted pulse. The bit error rate results for Nt = [2, 3] is also presented and the effect of channel gains on error performance highlighted. The error performance depends on the transmitter's individual channel gains as well as the difference in the channel gains between any pair of transmitters.
