Abstract:

This paper provides a modeling methodology of physical layer (PHY) in sensor nodes to account for wake-up radio characteristics within sensor network communications. The proposed models are based on SPICE simulations and measurements of semi-active devices. They provide indications on the wake-up radio sensitivity and probability of false wake-up or missed wake-up. The models are then used in a case-study that evaluates the energy per transmitted bit. The accuracy of the models as a function of the CPU time is provided.
